The loft bedroom in my small cabin is entirely made of wood, but was carpeted with white shag carpeting. After I removed the carpeting (and the massive amount of dirt underneath), I needed to install 1/4 inch subfloor to make a level surface over the rough wood flooring. I then installed new glueless laminate that looked old and matched the rest of the house. It was necessary to lay down the laminate and remove it 3 times to get the joints to be tight, and then I installed rough cedar trim around the edges. Since then, an earthquake shifted the floor and opened up a seam, which I can probably fix by, yes, removing and reinstalling it all over again.
