Since practically everything else in this cabin is made of wood, why not the countertop? Well... it needed to be waterproof and look nice, so I oiled a laminated Acacia wood plank, and mounted a black quartz sink in it, along with some nice faucets. Honestly, it took over a year to get it done, but the actual work was much less. A backsplash will be added as soon as I find the right wood, and it will be oiled the same as the countertop. I chose to oil it with mineral oil right after removing the plastic wrap, because I did not have the Odie's Oil that I wanted to use. Now that I have applied two coats of Odie's Oil, I have decided to add a layer of Odie's Wax to bring out more of the beauty of the wood, and make the wood really hydrophobic. The Odie's Oil and Odie's Wax products are food safe and natural, and will be used long term to maintain the countertop.
